About Rosemary Lawrey
Movement and energy are important aspects of my work and that is why I love to be outdoors. Sometimes I produce paintings on the spot, sometimes I make sketches outside and these might give rise to a conceptual or abstract piece later after I have churned the subject over in my subconscious and conscious mind.
I like to take into account all my senses and when I work on a subject, touch hearing, memory and smell all play their part. The vibrant colours are my response to the strong feelings that shapes I encounter in the urban and natural world evoke in me.
Rosemary is a member of Isle of Wight Arts, Isle of Wight Open Studies and is an artist in residence at Monkton Arts.
